Unspeakable Chaos

Recommended Posts

We all have those hair-ripping momments in Don't Starve, right? In this discussion, I'd love to hear the most TERRIBLE experiences in your gaming history of Don't Starve!

Personally, my worst experience was in one of my first playthroughs in the A Little Rain Must Fall update, and boy, was it chaos! It was the dawn of winter (I had no warm clothes), I was going insane (First time going insane, and it was frightening!) , and there was an invading Treeguard, which I tried to run from, but really, I was just delaying the inevitable...

Actually one just happened for me.

Went into the ruins with Willow and nearly died due to so many darn depth worms everywhere. Then I tried to tank the Minotaur and  had over 14 health left, all my armor was gone and I had nothing to eat but glow berries. Running around with multiple terrorbeaks and crawling horrors wasn't fun as I tried to get back to the surface, Of course when I came back up it was in the middle of winter when the sounds of the hounds coming. Again I was forced to run for my dear life freezing with about 20 hounds behind me, Yet I somehow survived all this craziness.

I've seen things like this, and even the Deerclops wouldn't stand a chance!

At least the deerclops would be able to clear the herde a bit.

I've actually once wiped out a herde like this once by attacking one and killing it somewhere else, it tooks a few days but I killed them all. Now what to do with 2 stacks of beefalo wool and a crap ton of meat..

Is that a Metric or English crap ton of meat?

Well, I hope you have a lot of drying racks

Oh my story:

I survived a huge spider swarm, (decided I didn't need armor,) health was very low, but was OK. Was near one of the several dens, a -tier-2 den. I moved out a little to place a campfire  and as I was placing a crafted fire, ONE spider ran up and before I could drop stuff in hand floating to place a fire, one bite killed me from that one spider that re-spawned.

I'm still kicking myself over that even if I had a touchstone.

I I only had 6. So much Meaty stew was made that day.

Well I have this older other crazy story I think is worth telling here from my WX world.  I went to just chop down one tree near my camp and then I get double treeguard spawn.  Knowing I had a pig village close by, I lead them to it.  Now this pig village was under siege from spider dens for a long time and then I arrive to find most if not all the pigs are dead and two Spider Queens.  I thought I could get these boss monsters to aggro each other, but if anything they teamed up.  I ran very far and it took two waves of pigs I found elsewhere just to kill the treeguards, but when the second treegaurd fell I heard hounds and then I thought to myself "Yeah.  It all needs to burn!"  Everything died in the red hound fire.  Then I got loads of charcoal and made way for a bunny colony next to the pig village.  So chaos can lead to prosperity in this game.

I have a similar story or rather image that's very similar to yours, it happened a while back when the Sanity update first came out.

My worst scenario:
Adventure mode,World 5 Darkness.
Everything was planned from the last world so i had about 10 meaty stew and other material mostly for light + cane.In a specific part of this world before the last area,u need to pass a bridge and u need to low ur sanity 30 and less to pass.So when i did that and passed on the otherside i slept twice (remember perma night) to refill my sanity. That made me spoil the rest of the food that was needed to finish the world. So i run asap to find the portal to maxwell with only food one mandrake.Near the portal by pure luck one pig was werepig and was fighting 2 random spiders.i killed it and took the meat.i wasnt aware from the "side effects" of mandrake,so before fighting clockworks i cooked.... mandrake... so that caused knockout... and when i woke up nearly starved i was forced to eat mandrake so second knockout happened.when i woke up i had half hunger, low sanity and hp was ok.But it was needed to fight chess clockworks nearly insanity cause of the nasty aura around teleportato in pure darkness.
But i made it to Maxwell with Wilson left about 30 hunger 40 sanity and half hp.Damn imagine if i failed before the end of world darkness how disapointing that could be...
